Styles’ Infinite Pipebomb: Ask Styles, Bad Kids, and Lessons for Life

January 23, 2012
By Styles Infinity

Welcome to another edition of Styles’ Infinite Pipebomb. This is the third edition and so far it’s gotten the people talking. Finally, the people are waking up out the Matrix. The voiceless can finally begin to speak and people are breaking away from the hivemind.

One of the biggest questions I get, is why Styles Infinity, why do you write this column? This is usually followed by why are you so angry? Why do you care so much? The answer to each of those questions is each and every one of you.  I write this column for my readers; I genuinely want to help you. I explained previously that this is my funhouse mirror, what you see is the light reflected from my eyes. Don’t ask me why I’m angry, tell me why you aren’t. Don’t say I care too much, I don’t.  I speak straight. I’m the unfiltered, uncensored person you want to be.  I don’t care too much; I simply say what you’re scared to say.

I realize there will be a time that I won’t write this column anymore. Life might get in the way, maybe things will change for the better, maybe I’ll leave Yu-Gi-Oh and move on to other things, maybe someone else will take over. I realize this because I sat down four different times to give the Yu-Gi-Oh community an inspirational explosion of knowledge. I wrote nearly 5 pages worth of pipebomb material that will probably be used in the future columns in some form or another. But like I said I write this for you, and sometimes my inspiration comes from my readers.

We’re 3 weeks into 2012 and already y’all are carrying old problems into a new year. I made a major point about teams in the first article, and although I didn’t name names, some people took offense. So I always say let the guilty speak up. Well, the Dark Magician of Awesome has become a bit of a prophet because I watch teams begin to implode from the very core for the very reasons I mentioned before. And I’m not talking about real friends or even people who have a clearly defined business relationship. I’m talking about all the bad players who band together at locals with nothing in common outside of Yu-Gi-Oh.

Y’all Bad Kids (BKs) suffer from a serious mental condition, it’s been defined as the crabs in the barrel theory where a group of like situated people hurt those in their community attempting to get ahead. Often in Yu-Gi-Oh this is applied to people of a lesser skill level where one person is starting to get ahead. The rest of the team becomes jealous or filled with a sense of self-loathing, so they find a way to pull that person back down to the rest of the team’s level. I like to call this some ol bullshit.

But I’m actually going to try to help you with this major malfunction. So before you come to blows with your teammates. I’m going to give you some life lessons that will help you along the way, because as scary a thought as this is A lot of y’all live life the same way you play Yu-Gi-Oh. You gotta have principles and morals. These BK teams don’t need a leader; cuz some of y’all claim because you hold the team binder that gives you a position of authority. Well it doesn’t cuz if something goes wrong that’s all on you, and you can’t replace everything, cuz if you could you’d be on a real team.

It’s real sad when y’all try to turn the team against one person. If you got an issue with somebody on your team, that’s not team business, that’s your business. If you go out to the club with your friends and you start a fight you don’t get to run back to your group and get them involved, that is completely your business. And to the teammates that hop on this bandwagon, welcome to the hive mind.

Team Binders are like investments, you trust your contributions with a person that is supposed to have your best interests in mind and do what’s best for the team. You spend your money and then someone on the team over trades for some stuff just so they can finish a deck, now you got nothing.  You should have just handed your money over and saved time.  That’s not teamwork, that’s getting played. Your “teammate” just pulled your shirt over your head, and punched you into next week.

And if you don’t do anything about it it’s just going to happen again. It sucks if it happens once, but if it happens again that’s your own fault. Shit wouldn’t happen to me. I don’t care if you wearing a white-collar or a tank-top if you rob me I’mma whip yo ass. I’m talking about smacking permanent teeth out your mouth. I’d smack the fundamental physics out your life. Until I got my stuff back or my money for it, you better be ready cuz it is on and poppin every minute. Like you better wake up in the middle of the night randomly and apologize. You better watch your back when you go try on clothes at the store. When you step up to order food at the Chickfila I’m liable to jump cross the counter on you. If you try to escape by going through the drive-thru, I’ll wait till you get to the edge of the parking lot before you turn into the street, and check your bag to make sure all your food is there, and grab yo stupid ass through the bottom of your bag.

And that’s best case scenario.

I want everyone in the Yu-Gi-Oh community to do something positive from here on out. Stop waiting for somebody to pull something good so you can snipe their best cards, buy your own damn packs. I know that 80% of the set is garbage but somebody will want it. Get better at the game, don’t ask me for help between rounds, I can’t help you then, it’s too late.

Seriously, some of y’all trying to buy your way into greatness, it doesn’t work if you don’t understand the fundamentals. Learn something. If you’re going to get together and start a team, be productive, win something if not then it’s not worth it. Make some big moves, do something different.

The stupidest question I get always comes right after people ask me to suggest a deck for them. That question is “what does the deck play?” I swear it’s everything in my power not to slap the soul out yo dumbass. How do you not know what cards should and should not go into a deck?  Why don’t you recognize a problem when it comes out of your mouth? Hell, gg for you doesn’t mean good game, it means get good. I have met some of my best friends in this game, but I’ve also met some of the biggest wastes of humanity ever, some of y’all are goose shit stupid, some of y’all don’t bathe, and some of y’all don’t know when to shut the f*** up. Those categories are not mutually exclusive. Get it together.
